Originating in 1851, the America’s Cup is a historic event, pre-dating the modern Olympic Games by 45 years. Proudly representing the New York Yacht Club, the most decorated yacht club in America’s Cup history with 25 victories to its name, American Magic stands as a formidable contender in this prestigious competition.

Creaform has been named the official 3D Measurement Technologies Supplier for the American Magic team’s brand-new AC75, meticulously designed to excel across diverse sailing conditions. “We have such a short time frame; we can’t make any mistakes. Thanks to Creaform’s technologies, for example, we slashed the time it took to fit a bulkhead from several days to 1 hour,” Aaron mentioned. “The 3D scanners are invaluable tools to create something so complex and exacting as American Magic. We wouldn’t do it any other way.”

Global Platform Design Lead, Aaron Perry, underscores the role of both scanners in the development process, emphasizing their role in ensuring error-free assembly of critical components. With time at a premium, Creaform’s technology has significantly streamlined processes, reducing the time taken for certain tasks from days to mere hours.
