Paravan offers a personalized solution for every patient, adapting their power chair to the changing needs of each individual. They specialize in construction and installation services that are tailored specifically towards your specific disability or condition; including lift systems, loading mechanisms. They also are known for creating wheelchair safety features inside vehicles such as an exclusive digital steering system called Space Drive which helps provide better control while driving!
Paravan has already been using Creaform 3D Scanners for several years and has recently added the Go!SCAN SPARK white light scanner to its measurement technology portfolio. Compared to the previous model, this new scanner really stands out. The time required to capture an objects full data can be just within minutes. This shows a clear improvement in technology compared to the last 6 years.
The portable 3D scanner is used for a variety of tasks in the company and simplifies the measurement of existing parts and surroundings, like the vehicle interior in this case. Conventional surveying systems were time consuming, costly, inaccurate, and a drain on resources. Creaform 3D Scanners have introduced high-accuracy and speed like no other when it comes to capturing surface data for any object.
GoSCAN! Spark capturing a 3D scan of the steering wheel environment
Integration of a Digital Steering System
First, the available installation space is scanned with the 3D scanner Go!SCAN Spark and the software VXscan, and the STL file reverses the required connection points with the aid of Geomagic Design X. Subsequently, SolidWorks is used to develop the connection of the steering system in the newly digitized space.
After the installation of the new steering system, the installation space is scanned again to compare the target/actual installation positions between the CAD model and the physically installed components, in order to ensure that all components were also installed in the vehicle within the specified tolerance range
The car is steered with a digitized Force Feedback steering wheel, which controls the steering motor on the gearbox purely via cables. The aim of this vehicle concept is to further test Paravan’s SpaceDrive system under the toughest current conditions (in racing) and to optimize it for customers.

Reverse engineered with Geomagic Design X
The scan was used in a preliminary study to digitally place the customer into his future vehicle and determine what positions will best operate input devices (steering wheel, gas pedal) with ease. With the help of the 3D scan, many of these adjustments will be made in advance in the future. This saves a lot of time during the final optimizations before final delivery of the vehicle to the customer at the end of the project.
Paravan’s Space Drive System is a digital steering system that allows anyone to drive with only minimal effort. This makes it possible for those who have difficulty walking, limited mobility capabilities and even no arms or legs due in part from injuries sustained during accidents along their lives time span! Thanks to Creaform 3D Scanning Solutions, the process is easier than ever!
