Additive manufacturing technology is rapidly being adopted by companies across the globe. China’s many industries, specifically the automotive, aviation, consumer products, education, machinery and medical fields, have taken serious notice of 3D printing’s vast capabilities and efficiency and now have integrated it into their manufacturing processes.By 2020, experts forecast that China’s 3D printing industry will reach nearly $7.7 billion in output, accounting for 1/3 of the global market.

“The technology represents the future direction of intelligent manufacturing as it combines the advantages of large-scale production with personalized manufacturing. It is highly efficient and cost-effective,” said Zuo Shiquan, a manufacturing expert at the Beijing-based China Center for Information Industry Development, a research institute affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology or MIIT.

The growth of 3D printing across the Chinese nation has been immaculate. The country’s main cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Shaanxi and Hubei, have created an innovative 3D printing industry chain with their geography as they can now satisfy demands for product design, materials, key components, equipment and more.  Last year, the Chinese 3D Printing industry exploded, reaching a total of $1.12 billion in output – a whopping 87.5% year-on-year increase.
